Rice and beans cooked with millet leaves, with shito, gari, boiled egg, spaghetti and stew.
What it is
Rice and black-eyed beans cooked together with dried sorghum leaves (waakye leaves), which turn the pot a deep red-brown. It started in northern Ghana and is now the country's favorite breakfast and lunch.
How to eat it
Mix a little of everything in each bite. The shito brings the heat; the gari adds crunch. Ask for extra shito if you like it hot.
